Campers get all the sunshine, bugs, rain, mud, and exploration they want with our outdoor nature-based camps. Our 123 acre property is a wildlife refuge and outdoor classroom where campers can learn and grow surrounded by cottonwood trees, birds, and grasshoppers. Each session has an engaging theme for campers to investigate through activities, crafts, games, and exploration time in Sand Creek.

Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 8: July 27-31 (Ages 10-12)
This week’s theme centers on plant life and survival strategies in the Colorado plains. Campers will identify native plants, learn about their medicinal and ecological uses, and participate in seed planting projects to support habitat restoration. Nature hikes, leaf rubbings, and storytelling around the importance of plants in the ecosystem round out the experience.
Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 8: July 27-31 (Ages 5-7)
This week focuses on water and wetland habitats at Bluff Lake. Campers will explore Sand Creek’s edge to learn about aquatic plants, frogs, and water insects. Activities include building simple water filters, creating wetland-themed crafts, and playing games that teach about water conservation. Exploration sessions encourage campers to connect with nature’s water cycle firsthand.
Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 8: July 27-31 (Ages 8-9)
This week focuses on the wonders of water and wetlands. Campers investigate Sand Creek’s aquatic life through hands-on exploration, including water testing and macroinvertebrate sampling. They will create wetland dioramas, learn about water conservation, and play team-building games that highlight the importance of healthy waterways.
Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 9: Aug 3-7 (Ages 10-12)
Campers embark on a week-long adventure investigating local wildlife through tracking and observation. They will learn to identify animal tracks, scat, and signs, and use binoculars and field guides to spot birds and mammals. The week includes nature scavenger hunts, wildlife sketching, and building simple shelters to understand animal habitats.
Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 9: Aug 3-7 (Ages 5-7)
Campers become junior wildlife trackers this week, learning to identify local birds, mammals, and reptiles through tracks, calls, and sightings. Activities include making bird feeders, creating animal masks, and playing tracking games. Daily hikes along Sand Creek provide opportunities to practice new skills and deepen appreciation for Bluff Lake’s diverse wildlife.
Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 9: Aug 3-7 (Ages 8-9)
Campers embark on a plant discovery adventure, learning to identify native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers on the Bluff Lake property. They will participate in seed collecting, nature-based crafts like leaf printing, and create a collaborative nature mural. This week emphasizes observation skills and understanding plant life cycles.
Bluff Lake Summer Camp - Week 10: Aug 10-14 (Ages 10-12)
In the final week, campers focus on conservation and stewardship of Bluff Lake’s natural resources. They will participate in habitat restoration projects, learn about sustainable practices, and create eco-friendly crafts. The week culminates with a group presentation where campers share what they’ve learned about protecting the environment and their role as young conservationists.
